Supporting Education Group Commits to Net-Zero
June 15, 2022

Supporting Education Group has signed up to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing the company to formulating a bespoke set of emission reduction targets. This pledge confirms SEG’s place among the global effort to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

SBTi is a collaboration between the CDP, the UN, WWF, the We Mean Business Coalition and the World Resources Institute, that seeks to coordinate net-zero ambitions within the private sector. The scheme holds businesses and financial institutions accountable by setting evidence-based targets for reducing their carbon footprints.

Supporting Education Group has committed to formulating long-term, science-based targets to reach net-zero, which will be submitted for approval within the next 24 months. We will also be joining the Race to Zero and Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaigns.

Once validated and published, our targets will be available to view alongside those of thousands of other signatory businesses here.

Supporting Education Group CEO Jonathan Roback commented:

‘I am very excited to announce that Supporting Education Group have committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). SBTi is dedicated to driving climate action within the private sector by aiding companies in setting emission reduction targets in alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Science-based targets offer important measurement and accountability that is critical to assess if we’re making the progress the world needs. We are currently working on building a comprehensive framework to help us on our quest to reduce emissions towards net zero and SBTi is a key part of this.

Through our work in and out of schools, and now in our environmental commitments, SEG is proud to be driving change in every aspect of our business operation.
