How training from Supporting Education partners helped this school win a mental health award

A Cambridgeshire school has won an award for its mental health provision after implementing Supporting Education’s partner company Thrive’s pioneering social and emotional development programme.

St Peter’s Junior School in Wisbech has been awarded a Gold standard School Mental Health Award by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence For Mental Health in School. This award recognises schools’ efforts to create a culture of ‘awareness of mental health, tolerance and acceptance’ through evidence-based approaches. Thrive’s signature Approach to improving mental health in schools has been a ‘focal point’ of St Peter’s work to instil best practice.

The Thrive Approach is a comprehensive programme for meeting children’s social and emotional needs. It is underpinned by rigorous research drawn from a cross-section of relevant disciplines, including neuroscience, psychotherapy and social work.

Staff at participating schools receive extensive training on how to embed the Approach throughout school structures. To date, Thrive has helped over 627,000 pupils build emotional resilience.

Supporting Education is very proud to see our partners’ work to materially better children’s mental health being recognised. We send our congratulations to St Peter’s Junior School and to everyone at Thrive.
